RIVERSIDE - With gains in both the public and private sectors, Riverside County's unemployment last month dropped below 9 percent. The county's jobless rate in September, based on preliminary estimates, was 8.6 percent, according to the California Employment Development Department. RIVERSIDE - A Corona pastor whose disciplinary measures included using pliers to twist a nipple of a 13-year-old boy was sentenced today to two years in state prison. SAN DIEGO - The unemployment rate in San Diego County last month was 5.9 percent, close to a six-year low, the state Employment Development Department announced today, Fri., Oct. 17.
