At their October 25 meeting, trustees of Fallbrook Union High School District (FUHSD) announced they are looking at selling the district’s Gird Road property. According to the board meeting agenda, the district acquired the Gird Road site in 1967 for $170,000. The 50-acre site, which was funded by a three-year bond, was projected to be the site of a second campus for the FUHSD. The initial plan was to start construction at the site in 1977. The district’s growth did not meet the early projections until the late 1980s and ‘90...
The update to the county’s general plan was heard by the San Diego County Board of Supervisors during a seven-hour hearing October 20, but the number of citizens who requested to speak forced the hearing to be continued to Nov. 10. Most of the speakers opposed the General Plan 2020 maps either because they did not like provisions of decreased d...

On behalf of the residents of Fallbrook Oaks Home Owners Association, I would like to offer the following: a cursory analysis of the SR76 Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) will lead to the conclusion that the decision on the choice of routes is nothing more than a political decision. It is clear that there is an agreement to protect Vessels Ranch. The statements in the DEIR covering the ranch are so biased they are obviously fiction. Why is the CalTrans design shown going right through the middle of the ranch? Why...
On June 14, 2007, Granite Construction filed a Change of Zone Application No.7508 to change 110 acres of their proposed Liberty Quarry site from Rural Residential to Mineral Resources and Related Manufacturing. On this mountaintop site, Granite proposes to build one of the largest blasting quarries in the U.S adjacent to a nature research reserve and within a short distance to the populations of Temecula, Fallbrook, Rainbow and De Luz. The Liberty Quarry would include aggregate, asphalt, concrete batch, and recycle plants...

It is the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR), not what Granite Construction PR...
Fire Chief Metcalf should apologize to the public that employs him! Although he said response times will be negatively impacted if the Existing Alignment is chosen by Caltrans, he should be ashamed to have said… “We do not receive a high number of calls for service from those streets.” The public has always mistakenly believed that our fire department is concerned with responding to emergencies in the shortest time possible, not only in areas from which the greatest number of calls are received, but every area. His ‘cons...
Now that the North County Fire has weighed in on the future alignment of Highway 76, it should clear the way for the existing alignment to be improved. It sounds like, according to the NCFD report, that the northern route will work for them. It is also clear that Caltrans has listened and made improvements in the route so that the people north of the highway will have adequate access to the new highway and the fire department will have adequate access to the area north of the highway. Why tear up unimproved land, maybe close...
The inability of our California State Legislature to make meaningful decisions can be easily solved by “outsourcing” the entire group’s responsibilities. The savings in salaries, allowances, pensions, costly election campaigns, etc., would be enormous. Meaningful decisions would be made in short order and our state once again would be a leader in governmental actions. Oh yes, this means doing away with our entire state legislature. Will they be missed? Don Foulkes...
The youth group from Christ Church Fallbrook wishes to thank the community, especially a couple of neighborhoods, for allowing us the opportunity to trick-or-treat for children in need. Our youth group set out early in the afternoon to trick-or-treat for Unicef. We were so blessed by the kind people of Fallbrook who donated money and helped us earn close to $200. We especially thank the people of Debra Ann, Rodeo Queen, and Poets Square. Your generous donations were appreciated! Brian Capanna... Full story
