FALLBROOK – Unfortunately, Veterans Day can be used as an opportunity for con-artists to target military personnel, both active duty and retired, warns the San Diego Better Business Bureau (BBB). “It is unconscionable that one of the most dedicated and selfless segments of our population would be targeted by unscrupulous scamsters, but they are,” said Sheryl Bilbrey, BBB president and CEO. My tenure at the Avocado Animal Hospital came to an end so precipitously that I was unable to say goodbye to clients and their pets I had known for so long. As most of you know, Dr. Steve Aichle retired last year. It was my privilege to work with him and his compassionate and dedicated staff to give the very best in veterinary services to the Fallbrook and Bonsall companion animals for over 25 years. Many pets with chronic conditions would be seen frequently and became as dear to me as my own. It would have been my choice to...
Most likely, we would all agree that this time of year is special. Those of us who are into our experienced years reflect on our lives and that which we have to be thankful for. And, towards Christmas, we start to think about appropriate gifts both to give and hope to receive. Of course, the younger we are, most of those thoughts are directed to the receiving part. Please, let us invite you to think about a gift that is dual in nature. By that, we mean that everyone gets a present. At the Fallbrook Animal Sanctuary, we have...
Last week I filled up with gas at a local gas station and went to put air in my tires. The station’s air machine was out of order. I drove to three other stations in Fallbrook. One had two cars parked in front of their air machine, another didn’t have an air machine, and the final one charges $1 to use it. (I thought it was illegal to charge for air and water?) If I am going to have to go out of town to get air in my tires, I will also be doing my shopping while I am there. If these stations can’t offer full service, they... Full story

Efforts to create a county-sponsored Community Benefit District have proven to be a waste of time, money and effort. To have even broached the subject without having any legal grounding is malfeasance on the part of New City America and the Board of Supervisors. New City got paid handsomely for a simple survey that is moot and irrelevant. Government is not the answer and neither are out-of-town consultants peddling unobtainable dreams. Next time Bill Horn has $30,000 to spend on Fallbrook, have him give it to Jackie... Full story
