On Thursday, November 9, at 7 p.m. at the Fallbrook Gem and Mineral Society Museum, Scott Kardel will give an informative and inspiring talk on the latest discoveries made at Palomar Observatory. He will explain the techniques used to capture images of new dwarf planets in the solar system. Scott is currently educating the public about the studies undertaken by Palomar astronomers, curbing the growing problem of light pollution and creating a vigorous public outreach program....
The Class of 2008, the juniors at Fallbrook High School, built a fabulous float for Homecoming this year. Atop the float was a rollercoaster that symbolized the ups and downs of the high school years along the road to graduation. The juniors won “Best Use of Color” for their bright red and white rollercoaster and eye-catching design fashioned on tissue paper panels. The reviews are in and the Fallbrook Players Junior Conservatory’s production of “The Wizard of Oz,” under the direction of Diane Felthous, is a smash hit. The opening weekend played to near-capacity crowds who gave the actors standing ovations at each performance. But the overwhelming “Wow!” factor was, by far, the performances of the actors.
