All attended the meeting and participated in interviews. Goodlake’s...
Ground was broken for the North County Fire Protection District’s new Station 5 in Bonsall on Oct. 28. “It’s under way,” said NCFPD Fire Chief Bill Metcalf. A 5-0 board vote at a September 10 special meeting approved an agreement between the fire district and Capital One Public Financing which authorized the borrowing of up to $3,127,000 at an annual interest rate not to exceed 4.35 percent. The approval allowed NCFPD to provide the financing for the fire station and to award the contract to Keeton Construction of Temecula. ...
Certain building projects subject to design review standards in eight communities – including Bonsall, Fallbrook, and the Interstate 15 Design Review Corridor – can now be approved by compliance with a design review checklist rather than through the discretionary site plan process. A 5-0 San Diego County Board of Supervisors vote Oct. 23 approved the ordinance to allow project approval by checklist compliance rather than site plan while establishing design review checklists for each of the eight communities. Mojave Airport has no airline or commuter service and is used for private aviation. “Mojave is a very interesting place because of a number of things that have gone on there,” Aberle said. Mojave is in the Antelope Valley, and the a...

A big “high five” to L&M Equipment! I would like to express my appreciation for the great experiences I have had at L&M. The service and knowledge is second to none. Tony and Ross in the equipment section are top-of-the-line. I started as a customer at that location when it was Fallbrook Tractor. I must say L&M treats people like all businesses should. This store is a real asset to our “Fallbrook Village.” Norm Hellerud... Full story
On behalf of Marlene’s Hallmark and the volunteer efforts of the Ornament Club of Oceanside, I would like to personally thank the Fallbrook community for your generous support of our Santa4Soldiers fundraising effort. One-hundred percent of the money donated is going to this great cause. 2013 was the first year of Santa4Soldiers and we are already thinking about next year and what we can do to continue this great cause. With the help of so many, we were able to raise enough funds to provide a Christmas recordable storybook t...
Apparently, based upon some of the responses, there are those that missed the point of my writing regarding helicopter traffic in the area. I am first and foremost looking for an answer as to why it is necessary to fly over civilian areas when they have an enormous area in which to practice. I stated in my piece that traffic from 29 Palms to the base was understandable, but practice flights over Fallbrook are unnecessary when considering the vast amount of unpopulated airspace over Pendleton. When flying in and out of...
I didn’t know that Mr. Monday is now writing comedy. I read his creative statistics in last week’s paper and really got a good laugh. In the meantime, his hero – the imperial BHO – is not laughing while reading about his disapproval ratings rising to an all-time survey high of over 50 percent. At least he’s improving his golf game and his personal fortune. The “most transparent” administration ever is having trouble coming up with any explanation on Fast & Furious, Benghazi, IRS intimidation, NSA spying and invas...
This is an open letter to the Republican Party and their request of the constituency asking for a personal story about the unfolding of the Affordable Care Act. My story regarding Obamacare is very pathetic and is going to become gangrenously fatal to the Republican Party if we continue to lose elections like Virginia. Reince Priebus has botched the leadership of the Republican National Committee to the point it is ironically suspected he and Obama are in collusion with each other, and a Marxist third government. This note, i... Full story
While exponential growth of the federal debt is a serious problem, there’s another exponential growth that’s more consequential: wealth inequality. It didn’t happen overnight, but in the U.S., the top 20 percent, economically, now own 93 percent of America’s wealth, leaving only 7 percent for the bottom 80 percent! The 20 percent largely comprises industry magnates (e.g., polluters, like the Koch brothers), top corporate executives (think six- and seven-digit pay and bonuses), and Wall Street high rollers (who make fortunes w...
Much gratitude goes out to the staff of Fallbrook Home Health & Hospice. The care you gave our family during Dad’s last months went above and beyond. You listened, you cared, and you did whatever it took to make his transition as painless as possible for all of us. I can’t thank you enough. Sheri Schwarzweller...
FALLBROOK – On Nov. 7, in a gym with a home-away-from-home feeling, moms, daughters. sisters, teens and tweens took a moment out of their busy lives to stop and smell the roses and acknowledge their wonderful health instructor, Yesica Vasquez, a young women who teaches Zumba, cardio blast and kickboxing. Some call it “Yesica’s boot camp.” Her clients said she is a rare commodity, always changing her weekly routine for muscle memory, challenge, and boredom. Every... Full story

FALLBROOK – The sounds of Amadeus will fill the Bob Burton Performing Arts Center on Sunday, Nov. 24, as Jon Robertson, conductor of Redlands Symphony Orchestra, leads the musicians through a program which features three selections composed by Salzburg’s favorite son, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The concert opens with the Overture to Mozart’s opera, “Don Giovanni.” While it took several weeks for Mozart to compose the opera, it took him a single evening to compose the ove...
