Sovereign nations are increasing their land holdings. Thanks to the Fallbrook Community Planning Group and the Village News article, our community is now aware of the financial burden and social impact it will have statewide if public lands are placed in a tribal trust. Prior to the FCPG letter, “Expansion of Indian Trust Lands in San Diego County,” I felt the Native Americans had the right to purchase land and were obligated to honor all local, county, state, rules and ordinances associated with pubic land. The FCPG tri...
Hey all you Wall Street occupiers, I have a great idea; how about occupying a job? Is that too novel or what? Thanks to all of you progressives who espouse massive entitlements and more government intervention, we are all blessed with occupy Wall Street. Whatever happened to the idea you must work to take care of yourself and your family. Oh I see, you want to stay on the government dole like your brothers and sisters in the European countries. Why work when Uncle takes care of your every need; Greece is the most recent... Full story
Senior alert: You do have a choice. Do not be bullied. I received a card in the mail that my Mom’s insurance was picked for her by Medicare. We have choice! We have until Dec. 7 to decide, yet a choice was made for her. Who is getting a kickback and why? My daughter was also given one by Medicare and it did not even cover her life-sustaining medications. She called and said to cancel it but they said no – not telling you just to prove you have insurance. We do have a choice. We still live in America and our men and w... Full story
Okay, neighbors... enough complaining about the “illegals.” Remember, “we”, (which included me up until now) have made it possible for the undocumented to find work on a daily basis on our property simply by driving down to the gas station in Bonsall, the church, or other spots to pick up one or two day laborers, paying them fairly for their hard labor, and actually depriving some American workers the same opportunity. This week I put a simple ad on the hirepatriots.com website, advising that I “needed a fence painted and wou... Full story
We all make mistakes, but most often have to live with them. However, I was so fortunate to have gone to Murphy’s Printing, on Alvarado Street, to have an invitation made for my husband’s birthday. I won’t go into details, as it is quite embarrassing, but the owner, Peggy Hanne, was so kind to take a disaster and turn it into the most beautiful invitation one could have hoped for, and at her expense. I want to publically thank her from the bottom of my heart. Dovie Christensen... Full story

It was 10 years ago, when the tragedy of 9/11 occurred and that day has gone down in history as one of the most horrific days for our nation. But out of the ashes and rubble at Ground Zero in New York City, there was one distorted, burned, tortured survivor tree, the Callery pear (Pyrus calleryana). A month after 9/11, a Callery pear tree (ornamental type) was pulled out of the rubble with hope of nurturing it back to health, but it was destined to take years, if possible at...
