  • Supervisors approve acquisition of Mount Olympus addition

    The San Diego County Board of Supervisors approved an agreement to acquire a 37.8-acre site in Pala which will be added to the Mount Olympus Preserve. The supervisors’ 5-0 vote September 17 approved a real property contract to purchase the site from the Lavonne A. Lauderbaugh Trust for the appraised value of $416,000 and approved an easement purchase agreement between the county and the US Department of the Navy in which the Navy will pay the county $208,000 for that easement....

    CAL FIRE advises that chimneys should be inspected and cleaned at least once a year. Creosote should be removed when it builds up one-eighth to one-quarter of an inch.     Uriel Aguirre placed fourth among Division I boys in the CIF San Diego Section cross-country meet November 22 at San Diego’s Morley Field course, qualifying the Fallbrook High School senior for the CIF state meet this Saturday at Woodward Park in Fresno.
