    Updated Nov 29, 2012

FALLBROOK – Brandon Gallery launches its winter art season with a special exhibition of locally produced crafts and art objects, Noreen Ring, gallery director announced. Ring said, “Many art patrons in the area want small, one-of-a-kind pieces as gifts for family and friends. To meet their demands this holiday, we’ve broadened our collection of handcrafted items to include more fabric art, custom jewelry and gourds from local artists.” She said that the added empha... Full story

    Updated Nov 29, 2012

FALLBROOK - Twenty-one year Fallbrook resident Robin Vojak will be undertaking the creation of a tile mural for the floor of Fallbrook Library’s Poet’s Patio. Vojak has been making custom tile in her ceramic studio for over 23 years. First introduced to Fallbrook in the early 80’s by fellow college friends Bruce and Holly Stowell and Cameron Smith, she completely fell in love with the town, the people and the beautiful rolling hills. She knew that it would be great place...

  • After seven years

    Updated Nov 29, 2012

“Within us is the Soul of the whole, the wise silence, the universal beauty, the eternal One.” (Ralph Waldo Emerson) The Pechanga Tribe has stepped forward and saved this land, these elegant hills……for eternity. I, for one, owe them a boundless debt of gratitude. They saved the communities of Rainbow, Fallbrook and the Temecula Valley when they saved their land. They will always be my heroes. At the press conference that the tribe held Nov.15, we stood on the rooftop of the Pechanga Casino’s parking structure, surrounde...

  • Special Ed students need your help

    Updated Nov 29, 2012

The Vallecitos School District in Rainbow is desperately in need of a new/used Special Education van. The current van is 20 years old, has 200,000 plus miles on it, and has major transmission problems. The van currently transports six special needs students, making a total of six trips a day to the Bonsall and Fallbrook school districts for services. Vallecitos is trying to raise $6,000 toward the purchase of a used, low mileage van. The students, teachers, board members, administrative staff, and parents of Vallecitos turn...

  • Re: My One and Only [Village News, 11-22-12]

    Updated Nov 29, 2012

Recently, Pastor Elliot expounded on a reputed statement of Jesus, “If you want to be my disciple, you must hate everyone else by comparison--your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters . . .” I think it is out of character for Jesus to hate. The language of Jesus was Aramaic and biblical scholars indicate that the Aramaic term Jesus used was sna, apparently a word of many meanings including, “to hate, to stand up straight, to put out a candle or light, a threshing floor, and to set to one side.” One Ara... Full story

  • Keeping print alive - beautifully!

    Updated Nov 29, 2012

Just as I have been lamenting the disintegration of local newspapers, along comes a great issue of the Village News, accompanied by a colorful new Country Review magazine. What a contrast to the local, daily newspaper – no need to mention its name! On Thanksgiving Thursday, “their” issue consisted of six pounds worth of advertising wrapped around a poorly edited jumble of sections. The only choice was to grit one’s teeth, make space on the table, and approach the morning search for news like a mystery tour! The Novem...

  • Thanksgiving was excellent at Fallbrook Golf Club

    Updated Nov 29, 2012

Things were really happening at Fallbrook Golf Club’s Thanksgiving dinner event. Servers hurried to take care of a sell-out crowd, who were greeted by the club’s new owners, longtime Fallbrook residents, Jack and Bonnie Lamberson. The first class dining experience included: turkey, salmon, and tri-tip entrees with all the trimmings. The beautiful décor was enhanced by the sounds of live piano music by Don Desborough. It made for a perfect afternoon! We can look forward to similar events for Sunday morning breakfasts! Than... Full story

  • Thank you for helping

    Updated Nov 29, 2012

After running a press release in the Village News, asking for donations of food for some very needy families in the Pala area, several local businesses made generous donations. Northgate Market, Fresh ‘n Easy, Major Market, and Albertsons all made significant contributions. The Fallbrook Food Pantry (Don Luallin and staff) came through with valuable help as well, although they have their hands full. This food was critical to providing Thanksgiving meals to families in severe need that are being assisted by the Mission San A...
