  • Time to dispose of political signs

    Lucette Moramarco, Associate Editor|Updated Nov 30, 2018

Fallbrook has a problem with unwanted signs. Usually residents complain about yard sale signs that are illegally placed on poles and then left up too long to boot (long after the sales took place). With the recent elections on Nov. 6, the unwanted signs are now a different kind. Many residents are tired of the seeing campaign signs on roadsides all over town. Bill O'Connor said, "I walk along Old Highway 395, occasionally, and noticed political signs left over from the recent...

  • Shirley Ann Townsend

    Updated Nov 30, 2018

Shirley Ann Townsend passed away October 3, 2018. This is her story: It all started on August 27, 1943 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. Except for some dirt floors and chickens in the yard, my parents, Ralph and Hazel Willene McKinney Crider, had very little. (Mother chose the lesser of two evils in deciding to go by “Willene.”) Since my main attributes were bullheadedness, eating pill bugs and hypnotizing the chickens, I think my parents decided that the one-child rule was eno... Full story

  • Re: 'After Measure EE, it is time to come together' [Village News, Letter, 11/22/18]

    Updated Nov 30, 2018

Since Mr. Toney included my name in his Nov. 22 letter to the editor, I would like to respond. I originally believed Bonsall Unified School District had its finances in order and was operating at capacity, facing real needs for building. After much research and time attending meetings, I learned these assumptions were incorrect. After seven years of deficit spending, BUSD is on the State’s Fiscally Challenged List and the State predicts a long-term declining enrollment trend. Reality dictates caution not big building p... Full story

OK, so the last part didn’t rhyme, but you get the idea. Every year, AWM inspects more than 1,500 local businesses, checking price-scanning devices, scales...
