  • Grants to pay higher-qualified teachers likely to go unused by FUHSD

    Updated Dec 11, 2008

Because it has been classified as a low-performing school district, Fallbrook Union High School District (FUHSD) has been given the opportunity to receive grant funding if they hire highly qualified teachers that meet the standard of a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT). According to FUHSD Superintendent Dale Mitchell, it is unlikely that the district will be able to take advantage of the grants because there are currently no teachers on staff who meet the criteria and the likelihood of adding or replacing any teaching...

The presentation at the Rancho Monserate Country Club attracted about 25 area residents as well as representatives of Granite C... Full story

  • Community Project Funding

    Updated Dec 11, 2008

Community Project Funding is vital to Fallbrook’s nonprofit organizations. The current system administered through our supervisor’s office has been fair, balanced and simple. Individual organizations make their case for financial support for community service programs which are then reviewed by our supervisor and his staff, who are personally acquainted with our local organizations, community leaders and community priorities. It is a direct, “hands-on,” well informed method of distributing funds with the goal of creatin... Full story

  • Christmas display a must-see

    Updated Dec 11, 2008

Our family recently stopped at the house on Reche Road that proudly displays Christmas lights for all of Fallbrook to see. While watching the 16-minute light show with music I had a chance to speak to the owner. Even with the economy in the state it is he and his wife decided that they should still provide Fallbrook with a little bit of the small town wonder. You can only imagine what their electrical bill is! Yet, they remain in the spirit of the season and bring smiles to people’s faces. If you have not had a chance to s... Full story

  • Party time for Granite

    Updated Dec 11, 2008

How do you think our “good neighbor,” Granite Construction, has chosen to celebrate the holiday season in Temecula? With all the families that are without homes, all the people without jobs, with all the “need” in the community this year in particular, where do you think Granite is celebrating? They are “schmoozing” their friends with a cocktail party in a posh restaurant at one of the well known wineries. I would think that their money could be better spent. With families going hungry, children without gifts under the t... Full story

  • The economy and politics

    Updated Dec 11, 2008

The recession, the worst since WWII, is the direct and inevitable result of Trickle Down economic policies of so-called conservatives. They use public funds to provide private profits to large corporations and very few individuals. The combination of deregulation, non-regulation, buying influence in Washington to create special legislation, and old-fashioned greed now finally faces its predictable end – which the taxpayers will have to clean up. How bad is it? It’s very hard to tell. The new Robber Barons have fudged the sys...

  • Please support local farmers

    Updated Dec 11, 2008

For the past couple of months Sage Mountain Farm has been a vendor at the Bonsall Farmer’s Market in support of the Bonsall Education Foundation. We have watched the organizers work very hard to promote this new venue of fresh, local produce, foods, goods and services. We would like to urge the residents of Bonsall and Fallbrook to utilize this market and support the vendors with their patronage. Fresh local produce is becoming more and more an important issue. Food is a basic human need. Yet for most of us in the US, it is m... Full story

  • PICO, ACORN are radical community organizations

    Updated Dec 11, 2008

Saul Alinsky was the one who created socialist virus methods that most community-organizing networks use now. Saul died in 1972 and Hillary Clinton interviewed Alinsky and wrote her 80-page senior thesis on him. In 1971, Saul wrote Rules for Radicals and he stated: “The Prince was written by Machiavelli for the ‘Haves’ on how to hold power. Rules for Radicals is written for the ‘Have-Nots’ on how to take it away.” Alinsky believed that there were no fixed truths but that truth was relative and always changing, with “no final...
