    MURRIETA - An alleged bank robber lost a bid today to have his $2 million bail reduced. Donn Patrick Thompson, 44, of Riverside was arrested Friday after he was identified as the suspect in hold-ups in Murrieta and Temecula. Thompson appeared with his public defender before Riverside County Superior Court Judge Judith Clark at a bail-setting conference at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta.     VISTA - A Navy sailor who drove drunk and fatally struck a couple in their late 70s as they were taking their daily walk north of Valley Center was sentenced today to 11 years in prison. Earl Decarlos Smith Jr., 21, pleaded guilty in October to gross vehicular manslaughter.     RIVERSIDE - A nearly $6 million settlement was announced today in lawsuits stemming from a 2010 off-road racing crash in the Mojave Desert that killed eight people, including a Riverside man. The agreement was finalized during a mediation session Tuesday in Los Angeles federal court, according to attorney Katherine Harvey-Lee, who represented four of the nearly 40 plaintiffs.
