Roger Lane Mowry, a retired Camp Pendleton firefighter and United States Marine, died Saturday, December 24, 2005. He was 73 and a longtime resident of Fallbrook, CA. Roger served our country in the Marine Corps beginning in 1951. During this time he received two Purple Hearts when fighting in the Korean War. Barbara Ann Helbert, 64, passed away on December 19, 2005, at her home of natural causes. She was born on February 27, 1941, in Pampa, TX. Mrs. Helbert was a mother, wife and best friend; she loved her grandchildren and was devoted to her Lord and church. She also loved traveling. She was a very virtuous woman who received great joy from quilting, enjoyed fishing and was very talented. Mrs. Helbert was preceded in death by her brother, Fred Chambers, in 1982. AZUSA — Katherine E. Tobler of Fallbrook graduated from Azusa Pacific University on Saturday, December 17. She was joined by more than 500 graduates at the winter commencement exercises. This year, Bob Sears designed and built a one-room schoolhouse as the retired teachers’ entry.
