After the first round of Avocado West League play, Fallbrook High School’s volleyball team had a 3-2 league record. Although a three-game loss to Carlsbad on Oct. 16 left the Warriors with a 1-2 league record, Fallbrook defeated Carlsbad in three games Oct. 18 on the Lancers’ court and obtained a three-game sweep over Vista Oct. 23 at home. “We’ve been winning. Fallbrook High School’s field hockey team lost six senior starters and one 2012 junior from last year’s team. The Warriors are also without 2011 and 2012 coach Kirstin Mueller, who gave birth to Trinity Eden Mueller on July 18 and has taken a year of absence from the field hockey team. SAN DIEGO – At the annual journalism awards banquet held July 11 by the San Diego Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) on Shelter Island, Village News Inc. was presented with 14 awards, 8 of those being first place honors, for work published in 2012. “We are very pleased to be respected as leaders in high quality community news,” said publisher Julie Reeder. Zuda Louise Rash passed away peacefully on March 15, 2013 at the home of her son in Fallbrook with her son and daughter at her side. She was 89 years old at the time of her passing. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, William A. Rash, Sr. in 2007; daughter, Susan Mee in 2012; and grandson, Todd Mee in 2009. For the first time in six years Fallbrook High School’s girls basketball team reached the CIF playoffs. The Lady Warriors were given the 15th seed in the CIF Division I post-season tournament and ended their season with a 56-48 loss Feb. 19 to #2 seed Poway in the Titans’ gym. “It was a huge step for the program to get back. In terms of records alone, Fallbrook High School’s 2012-13 girls basketball team hasn’t improved over the 2011-12 Lady Warriors. Fallbrook’s close league losses this season in games the Warriors led are likely more frustrating than last year’s close losses in which the Warriors narrowed their deficit. Fallbrook High School’s first three girls soccer games of the 2012-13 season consisted of two shutout losses sandwiched around a come-from-behind tie. The Warriors opened their season Nov. 28 with a 3-0 loss at Valley Center, overcame a 2-0 deficit Dec. 7 at Ramona to salvage a 2-2 draw, and fell to Mission Hills by a 3-0 score Dec. 11 in Fallbrook’s home opener. Fallbrook High School’s girls volleyball team had an overall season record of 13-16 after Oct. 20, including an 7-9 record in matches played between Oct. 9 and Oct. 20.
