FALLBROOOK – The Fallbrook High School Lady Warriors varsity softball coaches and players will be putting on two pre-season clinics to help all youth players get ready for spring. The clinics are scheduled for Jan. 9 (offensive) and Jan. 16 (defensive) from 9 a.m. to noon at the varsity softball field and are open to all girls ages 5-14. Fallbrook High School’s girls soccer team lost in overtime to Mount Carmel in the Limited Division championship match of the Barons-Howie Classic tournament. “That was a pretty exciting game,” said Fallbrook coach Kevin Koptieff. Fallbrook High School’s girls water polo team ended the 2008-09 regular season as Avocado League co-champions. The Warriors had a 9-1 record in Avocado League play, losing only to Torrey Pines in one of the two games between Fallbrook and the Falcons. On January 23, the Fallbrook girls’ varsity basketball team played the La Costa Canyon (LCC) Mavericks. The Lady Warriors’ (4-11) size and skill-set hurt them again as they played one of the top teams in the county. The Mavericks (12-5) steered easily to a 60-17 victory. A defense that normally gives up less than a goal per contest allowed the Eagles to score four times.
