  • Another young person with almost zero potential COVID-19 liability irreparably harmed by the 'cure'

    Updated Feb 18, 2022

Juile Reeder Publisher Whether you are for mandates or against mandates has a lot to do with the information you have. Some people who only know what they hear on the nightly news, may believe that the mandates are necessary and we all need to “do our part.” They may believe that young people are in great danger and they all need to be vaccinated. Others believe we should all be wearing masks. Some people like me, because of my job, seek information daily from all over the globe. It’s important to know the stats, if the s... Full story

  • Kicking It for Feb. 14

    Updated Feb 14, 2022

Elizabeth Youngman-Westphal Special to the Village News It is just a few days away “when every foul (fool) cometh ther to choose his mate,” Chaucer, “Parliament of Foules,” ca 1370. Love abounds as Valentine’s Day approaches. For instance, when Bill Shakespeare got into the love game at the end of the 1500’s, he laid it down with “if music be the food of love, play on” in “Twelfth Night”. Though later in the next century, and not to be out done, Francois VI, Duc de La Rochefoucauld, Prince de Marcillac, noted for his witty... Full story

  • Fire safety

    Updated Feb 10, 2022

Supervisor Jim Desmond 5th District Last week, I shared some successes and my vision for 2022, when it comes to behavioral health. This week, I want to share some of the accomplishments we've had in North County and talk about what I'm focused on when it comes to fire safety. We have been fortunate in San Diego County to avoid major wildfires over the past few years, but we know risk in this region is constant. That is why we have made major improvements to evacuation routes and pre-fire strategies. Prevention is key, and we... Full story

  • Signatures needed to get School Choice on the ballot

    Updated Feb 10, 2022

For years now and especially in the past two, I have heard many caring people express great concern for the quality of education of the children of current and future generations. While most teachers are doing a phenomenal job with the limited resources and overwhelming challenges they face today, when it comes to educating our kids, the system in which they work is often broken. This is not a Democrat or Republican party issue. This is a parent issue that crosses all party lines. Many people are now aware of this and asking... Full story

  • What Democrats stand for

    Updated Feb 10, 2022

Did you happen to catch Biden's first press conference this year? As usual, Joe was full of piss and vinegar, but then we know he has a penchant for hyperbolic rants. You may remember his admonishment of a young co-ed calling her a "Dog-faced pony soldier!" Or the classic invective he hurled at a portly senior citizen challenging him to a push-up contest and referring to him as "Fatty!" Very classy, Joey, and they called Trump a bully! But this time, his unhinged outbursts were directed at his favorite target, Republicans.... Full story

  • Private or public roads in our community

    Updated Feb 10, 2022

The controversy concerning so-called Permanent Road Division Zones within the County of San Diego needs to be addressed in a more permanent and equitable way. The problems associated with the De Luz area recently are just a portent of the future. To focus on Fallbrook and North County will give us a point of reference on how badly these old archaic agreements serve the residents of the community. Many of us that have lived for decades in the area have had very little information concerning these systems to maintain what the... Full story

  • Re: 'The Freedom to Vote Act' {Village News, Letter, 1/27/22]

    Updated Feb 10, 2022

Thank you for telling us your former profession, because it speaks volumes. Thank goodness you are retired, and no longer indoctrinating students with absurd conclusions based on shocking ignorance. Repeating the battle cry of the DNC “Ensure every vote is counted,” (no matter how many we make up,) means you don’t care how many are illegal ballots. Which means you support voter fraud. Which of course renders your whole letter fraudulent. Or did you think we were all too stupid to catch that? Number 1, there are no “Jim... Full story

  • Gesture erodes mutual respect

    Updated Feb 10, 2022

Recently one of my neighbors has been flying a large blue and white flag in front of their house emblazoned with the phrase “Let’s Go Brandon.” This, as most know, is a coded obscenity, an upraised middle finger aimed at the President and at those who voted for him. Fallbrook is strengthened by the civic pride of its residents and the engagement of its many volunteer organizations. All of us enjoy a high degree of mutual respect despite differing origins and varying political, religious or other views. This kind of gestu... Full story

  • State-run healthcare? Not so fast

    Updated Feb 10, 2022

Assemblymember Marie Waldron AD-75 Last week, Assembly Bill 1400, establishing state-run healthcare for all Californians, crashed and burned in the Assembly. Opposition was widespread from all sectors of the healthcare field and citizens. There were several reasons for this, including the astronomical costs. The entire state budget is $262 billion, and cost estimates to provide healthcare for 40 million Californians range up to $400 billion more. What about the unelected 9-member board running the program? Could an... Full story

  • COVID-19 deaths, or Remdesivir deaths?

    Updated Feb 10, 2022

Julie Reeder Publisher The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration Vaccine Adverse Events Reaction System (VAERS) database has about 800,000 adverse events (injuries) reported from the COVID-19 vaccines, including thousands of deaths. A whistleblower, who is a 25-year mathematician and health data statistician, is suing the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) because she says the number is underreported by a magnitude of 5.... Full story

Supervisor Jim Desmond 5th District Last week, I shared some successes and my vision for 2022, when it comes to public safety. This week, I want to share some of the accomplishments we've had in North County and talk about what I'm focused on when it comes to behavioral health! Behavioral health is a major issue that continues to grow during COVID-19. We’ve all seen people on the side of the street or know of friends or family members in crisis in need of help and, unfortunately, North County has been under-resourced. I'm p... Full story

  • A heads up on telephone line repairs

    Updated Feb 3, 2022

Over the past week or so, we have experienced five AT&T landline telephone outages at our home in Fallbrook. The fifth outage occurred this morning, Friday, Jan. 28. No dial tone on either of our two telephone lines. In each previous case, AT&T said it was their fault, not ours. We were first told by AT&T that there was a bad “line card” that took out six lines, then later told that many more lines were impacted by other equipment problems at a distance, so the scope of the ongoing problem is unknown. We live near the corner... Full story

  • The national blood shortage hits home

    Updated Feb 3, 2022

Assemblymember Marie Waldron AD-75 The national blood shortage has reached our region, and the situation is critical for many local hospitals. While January has been designated National Blood Donor Month for over 50 years, people have not been stepping up to donate blood and maintain badly needed supplies as they have in the past. The San Diego Blood Bank has reported that donations have dropped significantly during the COVID crises, even though donating blood is completely safe. One contributing factor involves treatments... Full story

  • The future is better than we think

    Updated Feb 3, 2022

It appears that the United States has divided itself into two distinct classes and neither wishes to acknowledge that the opinions and beliefs of the other side are true or matter or are worthy of consideration at any time. I think the so-called “Main Street Press” has fostered this divide and it started with the demise of Nixon and his dirty tricks and audio tapes that led to his resignation. I am old enough to remember how the press treated Ronald Reagan as basically a mental lightweight not worthy of the office. The press... Full story

  • Re: Re: 'It cleans below the gum line' [Village News, Benson Letter, 1/27/22]

    Updated Feb 3, 2022

My, such outrage! Misplaced, of course. Yes, there are many people struggling to make ends meet, and some live in Fallbrook. But the majority here are able to pay their bills and still have discretionary funds to pay for at least some of their wants. And it is those to whom I speak. I certainly wasn’t proposing that anyone sell their first-born in order to buy a water flosser. Concerning the “brilliant” letter by Myers: I failed to see any luster. He said he deals only in facts. But he also said “The CDC will not address immu... Full story

  • Kicking It - Things worth knowing

    Updated Feb 3, 2022

Elizabeth Youngman-Westphal Special to The Village News In this new year, here are some things worth sharing. Life is a one act play. You need to enjoy it as it comes. That is why we celebrate birthdays. Eat dessert first. Believe in yourself. After all, if what you want is easy – everybody would be doing it. Follow your heart and you will find happiness. Say “thank you” often after receiving gifts. It may be hard at first, but practice will make it easier. Then write a note expressing your appreciation. Be natural in your... Full story

  • Government documents uncovered appear to reveal origin of SARS CoV2 virus

    Julie Reeder, Publisher|Updated Jan 29, 2022

Well, now we know. All the rush, the unanswered questions, the fear, while hundreds of thousands of people with adverse reactions to COVID-19 vaccines and thousands of deaths are all but ignored, according to numerous published reports from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Even young people who did their patriotic part in the trials and are now damaged for life have been pushed aside and forgotten by the drug companies they volunteered to give their bodies to.... Full story

  • Stopping smash and grabs

Kim Murphy, Murphy & Murphy Southern California Realty|Updated Jan 28, 2022

Realtors who never answer their phone but will respond immediately to a text Personal contact is in short supply these days. Customer service has become a phone tree with more limbs than I care to count. You can get lost in that tangle of limbs. In real estate, however, buying a home or selling a home is a very personal experience. So, when a listing agent does not answer their phone, but will immediately respond to a text, that just rubs me the wrong way. The simple courtesy... Full story

  • Stopping smash and grabs

    Updated Jan 28, 2022

Assemblymember Marie Waldron AD-75 Mobs of people have been raiding department stores and walking out with thousands of dollars in stolen goods. In some cases, up to 90 people have stormed into stores at one time, and thefts have not been confined to department stores. Union-Pacific freight trains entering Los Angeles are being systematically looted. In October 2021, the railroad reported a 356% increase in thefts over the previous year. Union-Pacific is reportedly considering bypassing Los Angeles, its major hub on the West... Full story

  • Re: 'It cleans below the gum line' [Village News, Letter, 01/20/22]

    Updated Jan 28, 2022

With all the horrible headline issues and topics to have an opinion about, Mr. Terrell chose to ignore the brilliant letters written by Max Myers and Dave Maynard to do a fluff piece that belongs in the Health & Beauty section if our newspaper had one. He stated, "Nothing worthy of my rebuttal." It's really hard to rebut the truth when the left lies, twists and manipulates like they always do with every issue. While the water flosser is a remake of the water pic and is a wonderful tool to keep your teeth healthy, I wonder... Full story

  • We still have more work to do

    Updated Jan 28, 2022

I am writing this on Jan. 17, Martin Luther King Day. I am reminded today of all the changes I have seen over the years. I was in high school in the 60’s and was barely aware of the civil rights movement. By the time I got to graduate school in the late 80’s, the professors at my college said there is more work to be done about not only racism but other social issues. It turned out that I became a teacher trainer for early childhood educators. At my college, Pacific Oaks, we were trained in Anti-Bias Curriculum. Our professor... Full story

  • The Freedom to Vote Act

    Updated Jan 28, 2022

My name is Stacy and I am a retired professor in Fallbrook. The Freedom to Vote Act sets national standards for us to safely and freely cast our ballots, ensure every vote is counted, and elect people who will deliver for us. Our Senators need to deliver the Freedom to Vote Act to the American people, and to do that, they need to fix the Jim Crow filibuster which is blocking progress of this overwhelmingly popular and urgently needed legislation. The freedom to vote is under attack by extremist state lawmakers across the... Full story

  • Moving nuclear waste

    Updated Jan 28, 2022

Supervisor Jim Desmond 5th District Last week, I shared what my office has been doing when it comes to public safety. To summarize, we’ve increased our services to ensure North County remains a safe place for everyone. This week, I wanted to share another topic that I will be focused on for 2022. We must find a solution to move nuclear waste at San Onofre. It is critical for our community, our state, and our country to find a solution for spent nuclear fuel. While the spent fuel at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station i...

  • It cleans below the gum line

    Updated Jan 21, 2022

There was nothing worthy of my rebuttal last week. I'm glad, because I've been waiting to present the following: There are a lot of things I have negative feelings about, but here are two things I’m really positive about: water flossers and electric toothbrushes, based on my more than 20 years’ experience with them. While my dentist recommended the electric toothbrush to me, I discovered the water flosser on my own. I don’t know why people aren’t shouting it from the rooftops: water flossers do what no toothbrush or piece of... Full story
