On July 28, the Wall Street Journal ran our article “Why Is the FDA Attacking a Safe, Effective Drug?” In it, we outlined the potential value of the antiparasitic drug ivermectin for Covid-19, and we questioned the FDA’s vigorous attack on ivermectin. Many people praised us and many criticized us. We had clearly covered a sensitive subject. It didn’t help that one of the studies we referenced was retracted shortly before we submitted our article. Within hours of learning that fact, we sent a mea culpa to the Journal’s editors... Full story
Freedom anywhere is a threat to authoritarianism everywhere. That is why authoritarians must destroy all freedom and why liberty lovers, and even the merely “lib-curious” (liberty curious), must not just resist blatant authoritarianism, but reject it in all its guises. The fate of the nation, and the world, again hangs in the balance. To the extent that any freedom persists, authoritarian diktat can be subverted, albeit at a cost. History is rife with examples of bizarre entities, like nonbank banks (I kid you not!), ren... Full story
Supervisor Jim Desmond 5th District There’s a crisis in our country. Fentanyl is impacting our streets and tragically killing many of our kids. In late August, two San Diego teenagers overdosed on clandestine prescriptions laced with fentanyl they purchased via social media. Sadly, one of those teenagers passed away. This is just one of the many stories happening across San Diego County. Through mid-July, there were 413 fentanyl deaths, compared to 177 in 2020. There has been a wave of deaths among teens and young adults who... Full story
There is an indomitable truth that two things that can be discussed ad nauseum without repercussion: wine and bridge. It has long been accepted that anyone may comment about wine albeit they are tasting it, sipping it, or merely drinking it, without recourse. Nothing said can be held against them. The same can be said about bridge. Volumes have been written since 1935 about how to play this fascinating game. Every party bridge player knows a few conventions like how to count... Full story
I read with concern the article, “Current lifesaving COVID-19 information shared between doctors, scientists.” At a time when there are reliable, up-to-date reports from such legitimate sources as the Centers for Disease Control, the Food and Drug Administration, the National Institutes of Health, and the American Medical Association, the Village News has chosen to print the fringe views of members of such discredited organizations as the Pandemic Health Alliance (Dr. Robert Malone), the Front Line Covid-19 Critical Care All... Julie Reeder Publisher In response to Barry, I know you are a smart guy. Why would you look to Time Magazine or The Atlantic, or organizations like Factcheck.org, funded by domestic terrorist Bill Ayers and the Annenberg Foundation, to “discredit” frontline professionals and leaders in their fields? As for the Cochran report you cited, I know of another report that came to the same conclusion and many doctors signed a letter condemning the results because they used patients who were 30 years old; so of course there would be... We need to go after the Dominion Voting machines, and have them absolutely destroyed out of every state in the nation. It's the elephant in the room. All the good governors need to rise up and demand they be removed from their states and we go back to paper ballots hand counted. We need to operate a branch of Independent Learning Academy which is an alternative to public schools. If parents started taking their children out of the public schools at all grade levels, the public schools, National Teachers Association and the... Full story
There are countless ways to exploit the working class. Most have been found, and used, at one time or another. Slavery was certainly a popular one. However, I’m sure that there are many who would prefer not to hear anything further on America’s history of Black slavery so, instead, let’s talk about some other examples of exploitation. “Between 1492 and 1880, between 2 and 5.5 million Native Americans were enslaved in the Americas….” “While natives had been forced into slavery and servitude as early as 1636, it was not until... Assemblymember Marie Waldron AD-75 We can all agree about the importance of keeping kids away from illegal drugs. Red Ribbon Week, which is held each year from Oct. 23 through 31, is the oldest and largest drug prevention awareness program in the United States. Red Ribbon Week began as a tribute to Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, a DEA agent who was kidnapped and tortured to death by drug cartels in 1985 during his investigation of a marijuana operation in Chihuahua, Mexico. After the murder, citizen’s of Camarena’s hometown, Calexi... Full story
Please join us in observing the Day of the Dead celebration in Fallbrook this coming Saturday, Oct. 30, from 2-6 p.m. at the Fallbrook Masonic Cemetery, 1177 Santa Margarita Drive. This will be a community reunion to honor loved ones, ancestors and traditions. This event is organized by the community for the community and may be one of the only Day of the Dead celebrations in San Diego County taking place at a cemetery. For this reason and out of respect for our deceased buried there, we are observing this event as a... Full story
Last week I was troubled seeing the protestors lining the roadway at the corner of Mission Road and Highway 76. Although the crowd was not that large considering the local populations, it was still disturbing to see given the subject of the protest. I wonder who organizes these rallies? And how can so many be duped into the misinformation being peddled? We are blessed to be a country free from polio, smallpox, measles, mumps and many other diseases because of vaccines. We are blessed that our water supply is monitored by our... Full story
Dear Sandra, Did you even read what I wrote and do your own research or are you just relying on NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC for your misinformation? All of these paid professional liars have a political agenda that you are feeding right into. I would be mad if my news media were gaslighting, manipulating, disrespecting me and outright lying to me to further their agenda! Kinda like the lying reporter telling us that the BLM and Antifa were "peaceful protestors" while we watched the burning down of Portland. Did you read Ms.... Full story
Supervisor Jim Desmond 5th District Last week, I got a call that I knew was a possibility, but I hoped I wouldn’t get. Oil balls had been found in Oceanside and Carlsbad. Despite not knowing if they were from the Long Beach oil spill, we jumped into action. I joined many colleagues from throughout North County for a press conference on Carlsbad State Beach, providing information to the public. Most importantly, there is no immediate threat to the public. A boom has been deployed around several sites, including the Agua H... Full story
Assemblymember Marie Waldron AD-75 At the San Diego County Farm Bureau’s annual celebration, I was proud to present Ken Altman with an Assembly Resolution honoring him as "Farmer of the Year." As owner of Altman Plants, the largest nursery in the United States, located right here in the 75th Assembly District, Ken has been active in California agriculture for decades. He represents the best of San Diego agriculture. His service includes the Dean’s Advisory Committee for California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo... Full story
While Northern California burns indiscriminately, it's become just another year without the leadership and the prudent forest stewardship required to bring these cataclysmic fires to an end. Of course, the Governor continues to conveniently blame Climate Change to deflect his ineptitude and lack of managerial acumen. And while our farming communities urgently request the precious water resources and infrastructure repairs they need to feed our state, the Governor defiantly ignores their impassioned pleas for help. And yes,... Full story
Julie Reeder Publisher I lost a cousin last week to COVID-19. If you are losing a loved one to COVID, you shouldn’t have to fight the hospital as well. His children weren’t allowed to see him until the end, and just for five minutes. They were also asking the hospital to treat him with Ivermectin, but the hospital refused. From what I’ve learned, early intervention with Ivermectin is the most useful, but honestly, if someone is dying, what’s the risk? They’re dying! It reminds me of an employee I had 20 years ago that was... Full story
Why are we allowing this beautiful country of ours to go to hell in a handbasket? Are we cowards? Afraid to stand up to evil, which is what the progressive left is? Speaking of progressives, did you know that Progressive Insurance is owned by George Soros? To me, that is frightening. Too much influence – too much influence over the masses. What about one hundred million dollars worth of "wall" equipment laying in rusted piles, paid for by "we the people?" Now it’s wasted by the Biden decimation of our country. What do we do?... To Shanika Benson: “Of all those hospitalized currently with COVID, 99.5% are not vaccinated” was described by you as a “Huge lie.” Unless you were raised by wolves, I would like to assume that you know the difference between the truth and a lie. My information was reported in September 2021 by agencies which record and present actual case numbers of hospital patients. Back when I was in junior high, I remember learning about the scientific method and how cause and effect works. Once an experiment is set in motion, results... Full story
Supervisor Jim Desmond 5th District Within days of the failed recall of Governor Newsom, with the flick of a pen, the Governor signed three bills that negatively impact neighborhoods in San Diego County. Let’s start with SB 9, a bill I’ve strongly opposed. The bill overrides local control, and the state now requires cities to allow single-family property owners to build an additional house, or one duplex on their currently zoned single family property lot. The bill also allows some homeowners to split a single-family lot to b... Full story
LOYB thanks all our fantastic volunteers who came out last Tuesday and Wednesday in the heat and packed and distributed over 180 bags of food to our families. As we head into fall, we are gearing up for our Thanksgiving gift card drive. LOYB wants to provide eac... Full story
Julie Reeder Publisher Fallbrook Union High School District Superintendent Ilsa Garza-Gonzalez released a video last week showing damage, allegedly related to a September TikTok Challenge, to bathrooms on campus at Fallbrook High School. If I understand correctly, there was damage to all the bathrooms at the school, but damages to one bathroom alone was more than $4,000, according to Supt. Garza-Gonzalez. Most of the bathrooms at the school were being remodeled so that the students could have nice facilities for use on... Full story
Wouldn’t it be great if “yes” really meant “yes”? Many times, “yes” seems to mean “yes” only if it isn’t inconvenient or doesn’t make things more difficult. But “yes” should mean “yes” and “no” should mean “no.” Simple, no discussion, it’s either “yes” or “no.” In real estate, the lines are no less blurred on the “yes” meaning “yes” than in any other part of our lives. I can hear you now, saying, well, when I say “yes” it really means “yes.” Let me share some stories... Full story
The County Board recently voted to adopt ordinance amendments created ostensibly to relieve five marijuana businesses of ‘uncertainty or instability.’ Staff had been directed to write code changes to remove both. However, many think the amendments have gone too far, granting unprecedented privileges to a for-profit private predatory industry. Supervisor Fletcher has no unincorporated land in his district and Supervisors Desmond and Anderson had no part in drafting the ordinance. Nine months ago, Fletcher assured uni... Full story
I do not condone anyone who wishes to get the Covid-19 vaccine for their own protection. But I do take strong exception to this! In the The Epoch Times, Oct. 8, 2021, "Pfizer formally asks drug regulators to let kids as young as 5 get it's COVID-19 vaccine." Pfizer's only justification in the article was "benefits outweigh the risk." Yet, there is still no statistical information anywhere that suggests there is any need for kids to get vaccinated! None! And, if you read Julie Reeder, Publisher's lengthy article "Mandates,... Full story
Assemblymember Marie Waldron AD-75 Many people ask me what is the State Assembly and where is our district? I'm always proud to talk about our amazing district and the wonderful people who live here. From San Marcos and Escondido to Temecula, and every rural community in-between, including De Luz, Pauma Valley, Fallbrook, Bonsall, and Valley Center, we are lucky to call this b... Full story
