Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death robs vaccine safety advocates of one of their SCOTUS champions. The other is Sonia Sotomayor. In 2015, RBG joined Sotomayor in a withering dissent of Judge Scalia’s historic decision in Bruesewitz v. Wyeth. Scalia and his corporatist brethren interpreted the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986 (NCVIA) to shield Big Pharma with full immunity from liability for vaccine injuries. Their decision removed all incentives for pharmaceutical corporations to make vaccines safe, and Americans for...
Recently, a letter by Orolie Gubser answered the question “Why vote for Trump?” in great detail. Her reasons are my reasons and then some. One reason she mentioned was “I am voting for every unborn soul that Democrats want to murder.” This statement should be much more specific, and it is also made much more powerful when it is focused on the Democratic Party’s standard bearer, Joe Biden. Biden has said on many occasions that he is a “practicing” Catholic. Very recently, at the Republican Convention, Lou Holtz indicated tha... Full story
The 2019-2020 legislative session ended Monday, Aug. 31. During the two-year period, 5,423 bills of all types were introduced. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, we had two unexpected shutdowns, and in the last weeks, some members were absent and Senators were forced to vote remotely. At one point, there was an unsuccessful attempt to limit Senate debate to save time. In a normal year, the fate of much important legislation is often decided during the final few days, but... How far is too far? Where do you draw the line? We have young people who have been raised in the most prosperous time in history in one of the most free societies on earth, if not the freest. And I believe our tolerance has opened the door to our possible downfall. Young people who are being used for political gain decry capitalism and corporate America, but they can’t live without their cellphone, internet, cars, scooters, clothing and food they buy in a drive-thru or just p... The sky is green. Telling me differently won’t change the fact that the sky is absolutely green. Presenting me with photographic evidence otherwise, showing me scientific proof thanks to thousands of hours of hard work by unbiased scientists won’t convince me. The sky is green. Do you know how I know? Because I believe it to be green. Gone are the days of my reliance on elitist experts, proof and evidence. All I really need is my belief system, my echo chamber of associates, YouTube videos, my chosen political party lea... Full story
In 2014‚ California Senate Concurrent Resolution 97 designated September as ‘California Heroes’ Month. It is a time when everyday heroes are to be recognized for their extraordinary acts of community service. The COVID-19 pandemic has presented so many challenges for our community‚ yet we have seen everyday heroes step up more than ever. For each neighbor who was hurting‚ another neighbor helped. This September‚ I would like to recognize all these California Heroes in my district. If you know of a California Hero who you wit... Full story
It is hard to believe how we have got to the point that Democrats are intentionally fomenting racial discord between Blacks and Whites, and all for the expressed purpose of gaining political advantage and retaining a core constituency group. But alas, it is happening yet again. Kamala Harris, Joe Biden and even California state Sen. Holly Mitchell are all calling for reparations because of slavery and the historical mistreatment and repression of blacks in America. Slavery and systemic racism have become the preferred... Let’s start with the good news. Your continued pressure has been felt in Sacramento, and some businesses are able to reopen, at least partially. I’ve talked to many of you who didn’t know if your business would be able to survive any more shutdowns. I know those in the hair and nail salon industry go through extensive safety training to receive required state licenses, and I’m glad to see that they are able to open at full capacity with appropriate safety measures. Now, he... Full story
To answer all of those who would say, “I can’t believe you would vote for Trump:” I’m not just voting for him. I’m voting for the Second Amendment. I’m voting for the next Supreme Court justice. I’m voting for the Electoral College and the Republic we live in. I’m voting for the police and law and order. I’m voting for the military and the veterans who fought for and died for this country. I’m voting for the flag that is always missing from the Democratic background. I’m voting for the right to speak my opinion and not be ce... Full story
California lawmakers OK’d exemptions to about two-dozen more professions Monday, Aug. 30, from a landmark labor law designed to treat more people like employees instead of independent contractors. Among other things, the legislation would end what critics had said were unworkable limits on services provided by freelance still photographers, photojournalists, freelance writers, editors and newspaper cartoonists with certain restrictions to make sure they are not replacing current employees. Lawmakers separately approved g... Full story
California has already reached historic levels in acres burned – 700 fires with over 1.3 million acres burned. As always, California’s first responders are on the job, protecting our lives, our property, our families and everything we hold dear. We owe them our cooperation, our respect and our support. Last winter’s heavy rainfall generated a huge amount of fuel in our arid region. Now that summer is winding down, that fuel is dry and just waiting for a spark. With Santa... Full story
Mike Reardon railed at my discussion of the failures of “Obamacare,” the Holy Grail. He seems to have missed mentioning some of the most important points of my letter, namely blatant lies of former President Barack Obama that you could keep your doctor and your plan, and Jonathan Gruber’s laughing at how easily they “fooled” the American people with a health plan they knew would not work. Obviously, Mr. Reardon is one of their victims. He mentions how many people “lost” coverage because President Donald Trump made “Obamaca... Full story
First untruth: “...when this president (Donald Trump) took office, unemployment was the highest it had been in a decade.” Fact: In January 2017, it was 4.70%. Former President Barack Obama had inherited a rate of 7.8% (and falling) from Republican G.W. Bush and steadily reduced it. Second untruth: “Obama gave China all of our prescription medication formulas to China.” Fact: China, and other countries overseas, supply many of the raw products needed to make generic drugs. China is not a sole source. Third untruth: “(Hilla... Full story
I can remember living in the great white north where there was snow, ice, sleet and hail all at the same time. Cold doesn’t describe the temperature. It was so damp and somewhere below freezing, the cold would go right through you. Even as a child I knew I didn’t want to live there for the rest of my life, so I started thinking about where I would escape to, even at 8 years old. I had dreams of living in London with the Queen; however, the weather would have probably been the same as where I was. The years went by and I found... Full story
I believe what young people who are thinking that capitalism is evil and communism is better don't understand, in addition to the fact that Marxist, Communist and socialist movements killed over 100 million people in the 20th century and that it hasn’t really worked anywhere, is that it’s not just money that makes our country and our system and culture work. In capitalism, it’s the work people do for each other that is valuable, in addition to our free speech and right to li... Full story
We can start with some good news when it comes to our push to reopen San Diego. Our children can go back to school. Last week, it was announced that all San Diego County school can open. Now, it’s up to school districts to determine their best method of learning, including in-person with safety measures to protect students and staff. While I’m pleased to see children going back into the classroom, that is only half of the battle. We still have a 12% unemployment rate in San Di... Full story

A cavalcade of disinformation and outright lies have surrounded the spread of COVID-19 over the last five months. Americans have been subjected to numerous contradictory assertions and directives from global bureaucracies like the World Health Organization as well as the CDC, the surgeon general and Dr. Anthony Fauci. It’s time to set the record straight and discuss the best ways of not just curing the coronavirus, but actually preventing it in the first place. And, as with most illnesses, it generally comes down to the i... Full story
August marks a huge milestone. In 1920, women were granted the right to vote nationwide when Tennessee became the 36th state to ratify the 19th Amendment. According to the amendment, “The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.” Just to be clear, millions of women had already been voting. Fifteen states had granted women full suffrage, and limited voting rights had been granted in... Full story
Dear Editor, I can’t wait for the Republican National Convention to hear all of our president’s accomplishments. Clearly, the media won’t tell us what is happening at home or around the world. Before President Donald J. Obama gave China all of our prescription medication formulas closing down... Full story
What to some people is nothing more than part of a political platform, or a political narrative, to others is the opportunity for freedom and life changing opportunity. School Choice was painted for years with ignorance and fear that uneducated or “bad” parents would take their children to “witch schools” or some other inappropriate school setting. These fear-based oppositions were ignorant in my opinion. I appreciated the ability to follow four different paths for my four ch... Full story

In 2004, San Diegans voted to extend a half-cent sales tax for 40 years starting in 2008. In exchange SANDAG promised to build mass transit projects and also relieve traffic congestion by making critical highway improvements to Routes 78, 67, 94, 125, 805 and 52 and many other major San Diego highways. Those promised projects have not come to fruition. After spending over two-thirds of the transportation dollars in the last decade on mass transit, public transit ridership has actually declined. And we can all see it:... Full story
Few can forget the terrible images of the Lilac Fire in 2017. Among the worst were scenes of people trying to rescue horses at San Luis Rey Training Center in Bonsall, where rescuers were burned and 45 horses ultimately perished. It was therefore terribly disturbing when the California Horse Racing Board, during its Aug. 20 meeting, granted an exemption to its own Fire Safety Rule to the San Luis Rey Training Center - where the center’s representative admitted that about half of the barns have no sprinklers and asked for a...
