As I said before, Republican Party leaders are no longer able to lead because they’ve forgotten how to. Additionally, they have politicized science, making the potentially fatal decision of choosing anti-science as the Republican position. Accordingly they are totally unequipped to perform the day-to-day business of a nation participating in a global economy, much less address the monumental problems presented by global warming and the mitigation thereof. I asked my friend Claude.ai to help me figure how this came about, a... Full story
With regards to Julie Reeder’s letter, I would like to clarify some inaccuracies in it. Background: The parking lot was founded many years ago as a parking trust for the benefit of local downtown businesses. Many businesses depend on this lot for their parking spaces required by the County. Through the years the trust ownership has changed. A few years ago these owners changed the trust to an LLC. This caused the County Tax Assessor to reassess and significantly increase the property taxes. The parking lot is also in need o... Full story
Julie Reeder Publisher Operating a business in Fallbrook is challenging, and running one downtown is no different. One of the challenges is parking. An issue before the Fallbrook Planning Group next week is important for downtown, the community, and the seven landlords who each own a share of the large parking lot between the library and the Fallbrook Art Center. I believe most of the community believes this is public parking, but it isn't. I'm offering some context and perspective as a downtown business owner and renter. A f... Full story
I want to personally thank our Fallbrook family, Jan, and beyond for your donations, gifts, financial support, love, open hearts of giving and prayers, to my request for aid in repairing the roofs and water damage to the Methodist church on Winter Haven Road. They are totally repaired and paid for from all your responses. God is great! As is our Fallbrook family. Thank you again! Always in my prayers, God bless, Ken Stetson... Full story
Assemblymember Marie Waldron 75th District California has almost one-third of the nation’s homeless population despite having only 12% of the U.S. population. In recent years, we have thrown $20 billion at the problem, yet homelessness is growing. In fact, it’s gotten so much worse that we have become a national embarrassment. Nationwide, this is not the case. For example, over the past 10 years, while our homeless population has increased by 43%, it has decreased 25% in Texas. And California spends 13 times more per hom... Full story
Elizabeth Youngman-Westphal Special to The Village News I’d like to grab the guy around the neck that thought up Artificial Intelligence (A.I.). Thinking it was a good idea, no less, that person is wonkers. Keep in mind, it is no doubt “they” who are responsible for it. “Not we the people.” You know who they are. The ones that are so self-assured, and frequently without concrete proof, asserting their absurd ideas upon the rest of us. (Like the buffoons in D.C.). It is these “they” I am after. You know the very people who re... Full story
Supervisor Jim Desmond 5th District Over the past two months, many people have asked me, what is the actual situation at our southern border? The fact is the immigration process is completely broken. In the past two months, over 40,000 migrants have been dropped in San Diego County. These are the numbers that we know about and don't include the "Gotaways," which have been over 1.5 million in the past five years. Due to the end of Title 42, which used to keep asylum seekers in Mexico, our Border Patrol agents are becoming de... Full story
In the article “Potter eighth-grade girls win league cross country championship” in the Nov. 9 issue of the Village News, it said, “Fallbrook Union Elementary School District does not provide funding for the Potter cross country program” which is not true. The coaches involved were misinformed. FUESD is providing funding for up to six sports teams this year. Village News regrets the error.... Full story
Assemblymember Marie Waldron 75th District Constituent input is very important to me as I serve as your representative in Sacramento. Your opinions and suggestions help guide my decision making process on legislation and policy priorities that come before me on the Assembly floor. With over 39 million people, California is the nation’s most populous state. Just one county, Los Angeles, has more people than 40 states. That creates lopsided urban majorities that dominate the Legislature. The resulting laws, policies and r... Full story
The County of San Diego is thrilled to bring a first-rate park to Bonsall next year that will accommodate people of diverse ages and interests. Bonsall Community Park – your community’s first County Park – will offer beautiful places to relax, walk, picnic, cycle, play and finally fill the sports field void for local families driving kids to distant fields for practices and games. This is in addition to nine miles of passive park and open space with thousands of acres of protected land, trails and equestrian progr... Full story
Senator Brian W. Jones 40th Senate District California’s homeless crisis has plagued the state for years, and despite throwing a staggering amount of money trying to solve it, the problem is only getting worse. In 2018, California had about 130,000 homeless individuals. Today, that number is over 170,000. That amounts to a more than 30% increase. During those same five years, Democrat lawmakers and the governor spent $20 billion trying – and failing – to address this crisis. If money isn’t a problem, what is? Homeles... Full story
It has become painfully obvious that Republican Party leaders no longer know how to govern, not even within their own party, and certainly not at the federal government level. And a Republican House member, who should know, agrees with me. U.S. Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) made the following request on the House floor: "One thing: I want my Republican colleagues to give me one thing – one – that I can go campaign on and say we did. One!" He then asked Republicans to come down to the floor and "explain to me one material, mea... Full story
Supervisor Jim Desmond 5th District It's no secret that homelessness is the most pressing issue in our state and county. While we are undoubtedly one of the most prosperous countries in human history, the sight of thousands of individuals living on our streets remains unacceptable. We can and must do better. One of the biggest challenges facing those living on the streets is the burden of drug and alcohol addiction. Over a third of San Diego's homeless population struggles with a substance use disorder involving addiction to... Full story
Supervisor Jim Desmond 5th District Last week, I had the opportunity to participate in the California Public Utilities Commission public meeting regarding the proposed new fixed-rate electricity plan. This proposal has sparked significant concerns, particularly for the residents of San Diego. If you’re unfamiliar with this plan, let me provide a breakdown of its essential components and the potential implications it holds for our community. The proposed fixed-rate bill fundamentally operates on an income-based charging m... Full story
Shamefully displayed on the front page of the current issue of The Village News, over the words ‘Veteran’s Day’, is old glory, the red, white and blue, stars & bars, stars & stripes, star spangled banner, the American flag... the flag of the United States of America! This improper and disrespectful display is a direct insult and slap in the face to every American, especially our Active Duty Military and Veterans, along with their families. How was this disgraceful display of the world renowned symbol of Freedom & Liber... Full story
AFS has been a leader in the field of student exchange for more than 60 years. Each year we like to place one or more students locally who will attend Fallbrook High and Bonsall High. We are receiving applications now for students who will be arriving in mid-January for the spring semester and will soon be receiving applications for the next school year. We have some outstanding candidates with varied interests and from many countries of origin. I would like to talk to any families that might be interested in hosting them.... Full story
Julie Reeder Publisher Last weekend I was researching the Israel/Hamas war and while researching the history of that region, I came across a recent essay by Ayaan Hirsi Ali, an amazing woman who I have followed for several years. I read an essay she wrote for Unherd.com this month where she discussed her past as a Muslim Brotherhood follower, an atheist and now a Christian. She is an amazing pro-western speaker and author. After living in different countries, suffering under... Full story
He had an affair with a porn star. Then paid her off to keep it secret. Looking to the heavens, he told reporters, “I am the chosen one.” At Charlottesville, he would not condemn a White Supremacist. He had lunch at Mar-a-Lago with a White Nationalist and an antisemitic. He himself has made antisemitic comments. Only president to be impeached twice. Encourage an insurrection. His rhetoric encourages violence. Does not take responsibility for his behavior or actions. (It’s always someone else’s fault.) Found liable for fra... Full story

Charley Wolk and Hayden Hamilton FPUD and RMWD The people of Fallbrook and Rainbow could not have been any more clear – you want change and you want it now. In what could be the most decisive election results in San Diego County history, 94% of voters in Fallbrook and 95% of voters in Rainbow have chosen to break away from San Diego County Water Authority and instead buy water from the Eastern Municipal Water District. The switch will save ratepayers in both communities an estimated $7.6 million a year, according to an i... Full story
Elizabeth Youngman-Westphal Special to The Village News To me, some things are just obvious. Like in this case, who in their right mind would pass up $10 in free money? I know. Certainly not me. Or is it I? Regardless. To me, $10 is still a lot of money. For instance, not so long ago, $10 would fill my car up with gas. It would buy lunch for two at a fast-food restaurant with change back. Ten bucks would buy three happy-hour drinks with tip, or pay for a polish change at the nail shop or it would take me to a movie and pay... Full story
John Terrell took Dave Maynard to task for his calling President Joe Biden a criminal, after years of Mr. Terrell making those accusations against former President Donald Trump. He repeats the same script that all desperate Biden supporters cling to: there is no evidence of Biden crimes. It seems odd that Terrell still dismisses foreign payoffs to the Biden family; however, such myopic views occur when people only listen to one perspective. The headlines of articles that Terrell cites tell you which type he follows: “Trump R... Full story
Assemblymember Marie Waldron 75th District In 2018, 60% of California’s voters supported Proposition 7, which was aimed at eliminating the bi-annual ritual of moving clocks back in the fall and forward in the spring. Daylight saving time was first imposed as a temporary energy saving measure during World War I, and was reinstated during World War II. After World War II ended, states were allowed to decide the issue, and in 1949, voters approved Proposition 12, which permanently established daylight saving time in C... Full story
Assemblymember Marie Waldron 75th District California department stores have been raided by people walking out with thousands of dollars in stolen goods. Los Angeles County, the Central Valley and the Bay Area have been the most impacted, though it’s affecting the entire state. Why is this happening and what can be done? One of the major contributing causes appears to be the passage of Proposition 47 in 2014. Called the “Safe Neighborhoods and Schools Act by its supporters (and who wouldn’t vote for that?), the propo... Full story

Please be advised that Vista and Fallbrook and other surrounding areas have no influence of any kind in Bonsall and vice versa. The Bonsall Community Sponsor Group (BCSG) unanimously voted for Plan B on Feb. 4, 2020. BCSG is the only final word regarding everything that hap... Full story
