I smell sour grapes

Finally! We have Rainbow directors who can think their way out of a paper bag! Directors Sundram, Griffiths and Hatfield are not clones; they are very much individuals. I expect they will disagree and I think that is a good thing. Each brings his own talents and point of view to the board. Their different perspectives will allow for examining an issue from various angles.

Disagreement is not necessarily bad; it provides opportunity for the thorough airing of an issue. And unanimity is not always good; it often stifles productive discussion.

Currently wafting over the district and emanating from the “Don’t Recall Glick” camp is the distinct odor of sour grapes. There were no complaints when the old board voted unanimously and without what Jim Russell of the Fallbrook Community Planning Group calls “meaningful discussion.” At least one former board member has admitted to not having understood implications of votes. This lock-step operation was referred to as “stability.” Total control was fine when they supported those in control. Fortunately, the people have chosen new leaders and there is already great evidence that they will not behave as did their predecessors.

Several people are spreading the lie that the new board will not honor the $4 million a year for infrastructure rehabilitation. That is patently false. Each of the three new directors has made it specifically clear. Their supporters were in the group that suggested the $4 million as a better plan than Prop O. And each of the three campaigned on this pay-as-you-go plan. It makes you wonder why some are insisting otherwise. Did I mention sour grapes?
