• The Best Dressed Avocado Contest*
In the hands of an imaginative elementary school-aged child this green, bumpy avocado can become anything! Check in with your “Dressed Avocado” to the El Toro/Bonita parking lot by 11 a.m. Judging will start at 11:30 a.m. and will be based on originality, creativity and use of materials.
• The Avocado 500 Race or “Avo 500”*
Come on, all you elementary school-aged hot rod builders — show us what you’ve got under that green, bumpy avocado hood! There are two races where you can show off your aerodynamic abilities! Check in at 11 a.m. in the El Toro/Bonita parking lot.
Race 1: Modified Cars
Bring your own avocado racer, using your own wheels, equipment and that wonderful imagination you have. Wheelbase not to exceed eight inches.
Race 2: Stock Cars
Didn’t have time at home to build that rip-roaring machine at home? No worries — stop by our pits and construct your avocado racer on the spot. Wheels and avocadoes will be provided FREE; the rest is up to you!
*These events are FREE and prizes will be awarded to the winners.
• Fallbrook Little Ambassador for 2005
If your parents or grandparents filed an entry form by April 8 with the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce, four- to eight-year-old girls and boys who live in Fallbrook, Bonsall, Pala or Rainbow are invited to come and learn about avocados and become Avocado Ambassadors. Sorry, no entries can be taken on the day of the Festival.
All Avocado Ambassador participants must be at the Mission Theatre parking lot (220 N. Main Street) by 1 p.m. Sunday. All children will receive a participation certificate and a prize. Everyone’s a winner!
