First albacore of 2005 caught

Matt Sherman of Myrtle Creek Nursery has been trying to catch the first albacore (tuna) for his fishing club, King Harbor Marlin Club of Redondo Beach, for years.

The first albacore are usually caught mid-May. On Friday, April 22, Matt caught his first albacore of the year while fishing on the local six-pack charter boat Pacific Venture, owned by Fallbrook Capt. Chuck White.

They were fishing only 50 miles from Oceanside Harbor. The fish weighed 19.2 pounds.
