Lady Warriors softball team victorious

The Oceanside Pirates started off strong, scoring three runs at the start of the freshman girls softball game versus the Lady Warriors May 6. The Pirates showed their hitting strength, which helped them score five runs by the end of the second inning.

The Warriors’ first inning included two runs, scored by Leslie Grantham and Silvia Estrada. By the end of second inning, the Warriors were dragging behind the Pirates 5-2 but then got it together to score seven runs mid-game, three runs in the third inning, following up with four runs in the fourth.

The Warriors’ outfield caught all the slack in the Pirates’ fifth inning infield hits, making all possible outs and sparing no hitters.

The Warriors continued hitting well in the fifth, bringing in run after run. The last Warrior to cross the plate was Stephanie Huezo, who earned the fifth and final run of the inning.

The Pirates’ early lead did nothing to dampen the Warrior spirit, and by the end of the seventh inning the Warriors had clobbered the Pirates 14-5.
