FALLBROOK — The 25th Fallbrook Avocado Open Golf Tournament will be held on August 1, and this year the popular event will be held at Camp Pendleton’s Marine Memorial Golf Course. Rick Windbigler, chair of the event, urges all interested parties to sign up right away, as the tournament is expected to sell out quickly. According to Rick, “Local golfers will have a unique opportunity to play the Camp Pendleton course, an opportunity that may not happen again soon.” All proceeds from the tournament fund the educational programs sponsored by the Chamber.
Rick also urges participants to consider adding a military service person to their foursome. This year, the tournament will make arrangements with the US Marine Corps for their personnel to participate, if they are sponsored by a group. “This is a great way to spend some quality time with our enlisted personnel; we can show our support for our military and get to know them better.”
Deadline for entrees is July 15. Participants also are treated to two meals: a hot dog lunch and a steak dinner, with the US Marines doing the honors in the kitchen. Assisting Windbigler with the planning of the event are committee members John Henker, Stan Neiman, Phil Delaney, Bill Metcalf, Jeff Minch, Gail Windbigler, Sheri Windbigler and Sandy Fontaine.
Howitzer Start (Shotgun) will begin at 12:30 p.m. Additional information is available at the Chamber office, (760) 728-5845.
