Hawkins, Bretsch, Burke contribute to USD defense record

Three Fallbrook High School graduates were among the University of San Diego defensive players who helped USD set an all-time school record for fewest rushing yards allowed.

USD held Southern Oregon to -43 yards rushing September 10 in the Toreros’ 51-0 victory over the Raiders. Kyson Hawkins led USD with seven tackles, including one sack and three other tackles for losses, and he also broke up one pass. Phil Bretsch was second among USD players with five tackles, and Adam Burke had two tackles while breaking up three passes.
