The Fallbrook Citizens Crime Prevention Neighborhood Rehab Committee will be holding a meeting at the Zion Lutheran Church Auditorium on October 25 at 7 p.m. Our committee is seeking to help the community suppress crime and help at-risk youth through the programs of Crime Stoppers, Adopt-a-Block, Mentoring and Crime-Free Multi-Housing, key parts of prevention and intervention. This October meeting program will focus on gangs and crime, with Detective Joe Montion (Special Investigation Division, SD County Sheriff’s Department) on gang awareness. Professor Frank Puchi, Palomar College, will be speaking on community collaborative; Frank is a former Los Angeles gang member with a special dedication to keeping youth out of gangs and rehabilitating North County troubled youth. Also, Craig Schmad, Director of Student Services, Fallbrook Elementary District School, has keen insight into youth problems, is a member of our Advisory Team for Mentoring and will be speaking on students and mentoring.
By establishing a Mentoring Advisory Team and the Adopt-a-Block program, we’re reaching out to at-risk children on troubled streets through active assistance and exercise/sports. Other sports programs will follow and will also combat type II diabetes in our youth.
