Angel Society provides funding for local projects

FALLBROOK — The Board of Directors for Fallbrook’s Angel Society met on October 27 and approved grants to several nonprofit organizations that support the needs of our community. Funds were awarded to the following organizations:

• REINS, to support weekly therapeutic horseback rising lessons for disabled children and adults.

• Phyllis Sweeney’s Encouragement Factor, for assistance to people in crisis, grief and trauma.

• Canine Companion for Independence, to provide highly trained assistance dogs.

Fallbrook High School girls tennis, to purchase team warm-ups for the varsity team.

• Maie Ellis School third grade classes, for 147 students and their teachers to attend a production of “Once Upon a Mattress.”

• Ivy High Organic Garden Project, to continue the hands-on science experience of growing nutritious food.

• Fallbrook Food Pantry, to assist needy families with weekly food supplies, clothing, referrals and special programs during the holidays.

• Jeff Kolb, A Life Scout in Troop 725, to construct a wire fence for the Fallbrook Land Conservancy at Los Jilgueros Preserve.

• Santa’s Toy Project for Camp Pendleton military families needing assistance during the holiday season.

The Fallbrook Angel Society uses proceeds from the Angel Thrift Shop, member dues and other donations to fund requests for worthy community needs.

All of the merchandise sold in the Angel Shop comes from community donations. The Angel Shop accepts donations Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (only) at the shop, located at 1002 S. Main in Fallbrook.
