FALLBROOK — The Fallbrook Republican Women group recently held a festive luau for their annual scholarship fundraiser. After enjoying a delicious meal catered by Chin’s Szechwan Restaurant in Vista, attendees were serenaded with the Hawaiian Wedding Song by melodic crooner and Fallbrook resident Craig Heesch. Currently recording with American Jazz Records, Craig delights audiences with great American standards.
Following Craig’s beautiful song, a group of hula dancers coached by local resident Lori Frame performed a few numbers. The group of five high school age girls recently learned the dances for another fundraiser at their church and graciously offered to perform for the Republican Women. It was a wonderful performance.
President Lorraine Rutherfurd gave thanks to the many participants and organizers of this successful event. Special thanks was also given to Gloria Rowe for putting together the many baskets that were auctioned off. The beautiful baskets drew in the bulk of the profit for the evening and the bidding was enjoyed by all.
Ways and Means Co-Chairs Kim McAfee and Josie Laframboise report the evening’s earnings at over $2,200. These funds will be set aside for next year’s scholarship winners. Two $1,000 scholarships are awarded to high school seniors who compose essays on subjects such as the US Constitution and free enterprise. Winners are given the chance to compete at the county, state and federal levels with the potential of winning thousands more dollars.
