FALLBROOK — If you visited La Paloma School last month, you might have seen Ms. Grijalva’s sixth grade class outside doing their archaeological dig. After reading a fiction story called “Digging Up the Past,” students had to write a persuasive business letter to a fictitious professor convincing him to let them participate in the dig. The students had a hands-on opportunity to experience what it’s like to be an archaeologist. They used brushes, tweezers and magnifying glasses to observe the artifacts they found.
