The San Diego County Water Authority approved an increase in its annexation fee from $2,581 per acre to $2,929 per acre.
The unanimous November 17 board vote reflected the revised calculations of the CWA’s infrastructure and service area. “It allows people to buy into the system,” explained Mark Delin, the CWA’s rate and debt administrator. “It allows them to contribute for what has been paid by previous and current ratepayers.”
The purpose of the annexation fee is to provide a fair buy-in for newly annexed territories. “It’s the value of our authority’s system divided by acres,” Delin said.
