On November 21, Sheriff’s deputies arrested Trina Koistra, 39, an interior designer who has worked as an independent contractor for various individuals and retailers in the Fallbrook area for the past year, for possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance.
“The original crime took place at a residence on Highland Park Drive, where jewelry worth approximately $10,000 was taken,” reported Sgt. Rich Hendrickson. “A witness told one of the retailers Koistra had done some work for that she was showing jewelry and offering it for sale. Photographs of the jewelry Koistra was showing were compared to photographs of the stolen jewelry from the residence and it matched.” Sgt. Hendrickson also explained that Koistra was known to the victim for about six months and had done work for the individual.
One retailer Koistra had done work for said he knew the designer had a drug problem previously but thought she had fully rehabilitated.
“I liked her; she was a real talented designer,” he said. “I was very disappointed. I heard she was arrested with crystal meth on her.”
Hendrickson said deputies recovered several items of jewelry but said detectives were still trying to recover additional items.
