Maie Ellis students appreciate military

FALLBROOK — On November 18, Maie Ellis Elementary School held their November flag ceremony honoring veterans and military men and women. Mrs. Meiner’s second-graders were excited to perform the poem “Our Country” in front of the student body. The class also sang a medley of the anthems to the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines.

The student body was excited to see active men and women dressed in uniform from Camp Pendleton as well as some veterans who came to join the celebration.

“Our students wanted to show their appreciation to the men and women who risk their lives for us and serve us,” said Mrs. Meiners. After the 8 a.m. flag ceremony, many teachers invited the special guests to share some information about their military experiences in their classrooms. In recognition of their attendance, these military guests were awarded a certificate of appreciation by the children and were then invited to enjoy some delicious refreshments.
