The County of San Diego reviewed its policies involving eminent domain and revised four of the policies to protect non-blighted, owner-occupied residential structures from being taken for private property use.
The 5-0 Board of Supervisors vote November 8 increases the protection of county residents against eminent domain cases in which a jurisdiction seeks to transfer non-blighted residential properties to a private owner.
“Today we’re sending a message throughout the region,” said Supervisor Ron Roberts. “We place a high value on property rights and the lives of the people that we serve.”
