RE: Lopez's letter 'Friendly Village or another barrio?'

Mr. Lopez, your rebuttal letter to the editor was very distasteful, to say the least. You started out by making a good point and then trashed it by stating if Fallbrook turns into a barrio that would not be such a bad thing. Mr. Lopez, I beg to differ with you. As a resident of Fallbrook for over 25 years I refuse to allow this friendly village to turn into a barrio. How dare you suggest such a thing? We decent tax-paying citizens of Fallbrook have pride in our community and want to keep it clean and crime-free. We have slowly watched it whither away into roving taco stands, abandoned cars, un-permitted signs and banners and filth caused by illegal immigrants. The crime rate here in Fallbrook is out of control and unacceptable. The point of emigrating here legally from another country is to seek a better life, not bring the garbage with you and trash your new life.

I consider your comment that the Latinos will dominate one day as a threat, and to dishonor our Commander and Chief President Bush is an act of treason. President Bush is doing the best he can under the circumstances, and though we may not always agree with what he does or says he is our President, not some “white man” in power.

You, Mr. Lopez, are allowed to verbalize your opinions because this is a free democratic society. We Americans fight for our freedom. You owe the good people of Fallbrook and President Bush an apology. As we always say, if you don’t like it here you can always go back to your roots down south; I am sure Mr. Fox would love to hear from his constituents and perhaps make a better life for all the Mexicans in Mexico — then we would not have this influx of illegals crossing our borders.
