Spend New Year's Eve close to home!

Several local restaurants are offering a variety of dinners and parties for those who prefer to stay close to home on New Year’s Eve. For those who want to entertain at home but don’t want the mess and hassle of cooking, Major Market also serves complete meals for reasonable prices with a two-day advance notice.

• J.J. LANDERS IRISH PUB AND RESTAURANT — The establishment is taking reservations for the New Year’s Eve celebration with live music performed by the traditional Irish band Brehon Law. Regular menu items are available and the food service will cease at 9:00 p.m.; however, the music continues until 1:00 a.m.

• SAN LUIS REY DOWNS COUNTRY CLUB — Reservations are required for the dinner buffet held at the Downs on New Year’s Eve. The buffet, priced at $27.95 per person, will include main entrees of Prime Rib, Fresh Walnut Salmon and Chicken Marsala. • HUKILAU AT THE FALLBROOK GOLF CLUB — At Hukilau a New York New Year’s Dinner Buffet including Prime Rib and “Turkey with all the Fixings” will be served from 5 to 9:00 p.m. The band Hot Lava will be playing music all evening and the dinner price of $24.95 for adults and $12.95 for children includes party favors. • PONTE FAMILY ESTATE WINERY — The Ponte Family Estate Winery will be offering a “New Year’s Eve Extravaganza Around the World.” Feast at four international food stations and enjoy the full Ponte wine bar. • PALA MESA RESORT — Host and DJ John Irwin is having a Gala New Year’s Eve dance at the Pala Mesa Resort in Fallbrook from 7 p.m. to midnight. • DA GIORGIO AT LA ESTANCIA INN — Chef Jorge Alcaraz, proprietor of Da Giorgio restaurant at the La Estancia Inn, invites the community to celebrate New Year’s Eve with them. • BROTHER’S BISTRO — Dee Nusser of Brother’s Bistro announced that they are offering two seatings, one at 5 p.m. and one at 7:30 p.m., for a five-course dinner that includes a fourth-course choice of Filet of Beef w/Madeira, Mushroom Ragout and Horseradish Sauces, or Seared Halibut w/Baby Asparagus, Scallions in White Wine Sauce or Lobster Stuffed Tiger Raviolis in Herbed Cream Sauce for $59.95. • MAJOR MARKET — Having a party or just want to stay at home on New Year’s Eve? Major Market offers full dinners for various prices. Maria, deli manager, recommends at least a two-day advance notice for the full dinners. All the dinners include a dozen dinner rolls from the bakery (butter included) and a choice of a freshly baked nine-inch pumpkin or pecan pie. Dinners are various prices and selections include: Premium Turkey, Zacky Turkey, Honey Glazed Ham and Prime Rib. The Honey Glazed Ham dinner is accompanied by fresh mashed potatoes, candied yams and seasonal garden vegetables. A ten-person dinner is $59.99.
