The real question to ask the administration

I’ve waited in vain to hear a reporter ask the President or an administration official why they didn’t seek after-the-fact warrants for their domestic surveillance program, and I haven’t heard any answers. I can only guess what the real reason is:

The information that would have had to be presented to the court to explain why they were seeking the warrant was obtained illegally…

OR

The basis of the request was clearly political in nature — as in tapping Seymour Hirsh’s phone, or John Kerry’s or the Quakers’…

If there is any journalistic interest in digging into why our President is breaking the law and bragging about it, this is the question that needs to be answered.
