A very special event is coming to Fallbrook High. The FUHS Drama Department’s production of “The White Rose” will open the first weekend of February, playing only two performances. “The White Rose” is the story of five Munich University students who began an underground resistance to the Nazi regime in World War II Germany.
Fallbrook Drama students have been preparing for the show since the end of the 2004-2005 school year. An extraordinary part of that preparation came in the form of John Bergeisen, a survivor of the Nazi concentration camp at Auschwitz, who came to speak to the students about his experience on two separate occasions. The cast and crew of “The White Rose” will stage a special performance in La Jolla for the New Life Organization, which includes Mr. Bergeisen and 70 other survivors.
The dedicated cast includes Ben Hartman, Jared Spears, Drew Lanari, Sally Wells, Kate Eastman, Angie Scoma, Drew Allen and Michaele Holman. Performances are Friday, February 3, and Saturday, February 4, at 7:30 p.m. at the Bob Burton Center for the Performing Arts. The show is directed by Florene Villane, who calls the play “a timeless story with today’s relevance.”
