Garden Club meets Jan. 31

The January general meeting of the Fallbrook Garden Club will be held on Tuesday, January 31, at 1 p.m. at the Fallbrook Community Center, located at 341 Heald Lane. Penny Alverson of Armstrong Nursery in Temecula will discuss bare root planting of roses and fruit trees. In addition to plantings this time of year, she will also talk about the pruning and fertilizing of roses, fruit trees, berries, grapes and artichokes. “Remember, as a rule of thumb,” she says, “don’t prune roses until Super Bowl Sunday.”
