Young essay writer wise beyond her youth

Congratulations to local high school students Amber Briggs, Jenny Star and Brandon Chesney (Opinion, 1/5/06) on their essays on the subject of freedom. They are exceptionally well written.

Special accolades and admiration belong to Miss Briggs, whose essay “What is Freedom?” reveals a wise understanding of freedom not achieved by most adults. Her definition: “…freedom for me is having the ability to express who I am.”
