After the Bonsall Unified School District revoked the charter of Bonsall Charter Academy for Learning (BCAL) on December 15, the Julian Charter School fulfilled its promise and transitioned the program into its district.
What was once known as BCAL is now titled Julian Charter School - North County Academy (JCSNCA) and is providing education to 32 students onsite said Jason Marks, who took a lead role at BCAL after its two directors resigned. Jennifer Cauzza, program director for Julian Charter Schools, said there are also approximately 20 students doing independent study. The five teachers that remained during the charter’s revocation are still teaching at JCSNCA with Marks acting as the Program Coordinator.
The charter is still in the same location as BCAL was. BCAL’s last day was January 11 and JCSNCA began on January 17. When asked if the program would continue past the 2005/06 school year, Marks said, “I believe the program will remain but we must find a different site.”
The school is accepting enrollment. Those interested can contact Marks at (760) 522-7283.
