Bay City Electric was awarded the contract to install emergency generators at Rainbow Municipal Water District’s (RMWD) four reservoirs during a special meeting on February 2. With a bid of $59,354.74, the company offered RMWD the best deal by at least $12,000.
The generators need to be installed by March 31 in order to not be fined by the California Department of Health Services (DHS). The agency fined RMWD in December and included a strict list of directives with fines attached to the deadlines.
Other companies who bid on the project were NEWest Construction, Par Electric, SCW Contracting and Tri-Group Construction.
The decision was passed with a 3-1-1 vote; Director Jack Griffiths opposed and Director Bill Bopf was not present.
According to Board President Larry Sundram, Chris Trees, the general manager, offered an update to the DHS citation but had no new information.
