Concerns over drinking water

A presentation which won two awards at the Society of Toxicology convention in San Diego indicates a link between arsenic in drinking water and the progression of atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries.

“Initiation and progression of atherosclerosis in ApoE-/- /LDLr-/- mice exposed to arsenic in drinking water” won both the Student Food Safety Award and the Regulatory and Safety Evaluation Specialty Section Award for University of Montana graduate student Flavia Pereira and her group.
