A renewed effort to again site a privately operated landfill in pristine Gregory Canyon west of Pala Valley has emerged. A Superior Court judge late last year decertified the flawed project EIR, citing irregularities regarding impacts on traffic, water and the environment. Behind the scenes, project proponent Gregory Canyon Ltd. has been quietly trying to cut deals to secure sources of water for the landfill’s operation, if and when it should pass environmental scrutiny (it won’t).
