Military battalion adopted by Village Rotary

FALLBROOK — Village Rotary has “adopted” the members of the Marine 2/1 battalion from Camp Pendleton and supported them by sending care packages while they have been stationed overseas and visiting the injured upon their return.

Fallbrook Village Rotarians Steve Achard, Melinda Stone and John Crawford had the honor recently of attending memorial services for nine Marines killed in action in Iraq.

“It was one of the most touching and uplifting services I have ever attended, and at my age, I’ve had some experience at that,” said Achard.
