It amazes me that it is OK in this country for 99.4 percent of the population to vote in and decide if .06 percent of the population will involuntarily fund a government program. I certainly do not make $400,000 per year and probable never will and I am fuming that Prop 82 came close to stealing from someone else’s pocketbook. Cheryl, you stated that “most importantly, it will cost parents nothing” and that “only a small percentage of California taxpayers will be affected with the majority of us not being taxed a penny.”
Oh, yippee! Get in line! Another freebie program. Nothing is for free. That small percentage of taxpayers you are referring to have worked their rear ends off for what they have and they should not be responsible for funding another program. If you or anyone wants their children to attend preschool, then figure out a way without charging other people for it. I do and so do all of the parents I know. I also do not appreciate your comment “children need our help…” So support Prop 82. No, children need their parents. I, as a parent, am responsible for my own children. Not the rich and certainly not the state. I am so pleased that Prop 82 was thrown out as it should.
Free=donation=given. Prop 82=taxation=taken.
