Golf Club of California is first Village Champion

June 6 was the lucky day for the team from Golf Club of California. They were victorious in the four matches played against the teams from Fallbrook Golf Club, Pala Mesa Resort and San Luis Rey Golf Club. Teams consisted of the club professional and three club members. The matches began in March at Fallbrook Golf Club, followed by a contest at Pala Mesa Resort, then moving to San Luis Rey and culminating with Tuesday’s match at Golf Club of California.

Whatever the venue, the team from Golf Club of California, led by PGA professional Scott Bentley, started off in second place and then moved to the head of the pack and never wavered. This week’s individual leader was the immortal “Bobby Jones” of the Pala Mesa Resort. Next year’s matches have been tentatively scheduled for the Second Annual Village Championship. The teams will be expanded to eight players per club. Interested players should contact the head professional at each of the golf courses.
