Lake Elsinore Elks Lodge celebrated Flag Day at the Lodge on Tuesday, June 13, at an open meeting. The Elks were the first to come up with the idea of a Flag Day in 1907. June 14 was selected as that day by the Grand Lodge of the Elks. Finally, in 1911, the Grand Lodge made the observance of Flag Day mandatory for all Subordinate Lodges. It was not until August 3, 1949, that President Harry S. Truman signed Public Law 203 designating June 14 as Flag Day.
