Police ask for help in identifying hit-and-run driver

A Lake Elsinore man who was crossing Riverside Drive on Friday night was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver.

Pronounced dead at the scene was Phillip Reynero, Jr., 27, who suffered major injuries in the collision at about 10:30 p.m. on June 23.

Lake Elsinore police said the preliminary investigation indicates that Reynero was crossing Riverside Drive from north to south when he was struck by a vehicle driving without lights in the two-way center turn lane. The vehicle failed to stop at the collision scene and was last seen traveling westbound on Riverside Drive toward Grand Avenue.
