Wildomar man drowns

A 24-year-old Wildomar man drowned in Lake Elsinore after the boat in which he was sitting was capsized by the wake of another boat.

Patrick Ballard was pronounced dead at a local hospital. His companions told police he did not know how to swim.

Lake Elsinore police said that on Saturday, June 24, at about 12:41 p.m. the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department received a 9-1-1 call reporting a possible drowning off the 16000 block of Grand Avenue. Lake patrol deputies from the Lake Elsinore Station and members from the Lake Elsinore Marine Search and Rescue responded to the scene.
