Thanks for a successful Grand Tradition Fourth of July!

The success of “Fallbrook’s Grand Tradition Fourth of July” celebration was due in large part to those of you in our community who supported this annual fundraising event for the Fallbrook Beautification Alliance. We are most appreciative of your support.

It could not have been a reality without the generosity of the McDougal family, Arlyne Ingold, Supervisor Bill Horn and Major Market — all of whom made major contributions to this event.

Thanks also to our Alliance partners, the business community, the organizing committee and the many volunteers who gave of their time and energy to make this annual event a success. The positive feedback about the quality of the entertainment, the food and the fireworks is gratifying. As many guests said, “it was truly an evening to remember.” Our fire and safety services deserve a round of applause for their efforts in ensuring a safe and enjoyable holiday for all.

Funds raised from ticket sales and “Quack Up Cup” chances will back go into our community. As many of you know, Fallbrook is an unincorporated area; therefore, the Fallbrook Beautification Alliance (FBA) maintains (and hopefully we will be able to finish planting) the Mission median as well as planting and maintaining the median across from the Shell station. The FBA initiated the downtown flower pot project and our goal is to expand it six more blocks. We restore the beautiful murals about town (just finished restoration of the Oak Tree mural on the building at Hawthorne and Main). The Alliance volunteers maintain the Pico Promenade and Beech Street Park. We welcome input relative to beautification projects you would like to see in your community. Please send your suggestions to the PO Box below.

My hope is that those who enjoyed the July 4 fireworks from their patios and surrounding areas will send a donation to help defray the cost of the pyrotechnic display. If we do not raise the needed $17,000 in advance, there will no fireworks next year. Tax-exempt contributions should be made payable to the Fallbrook Beautification Alliance (FBA) and mailed to the FBA at PO Box 434, Fallbrook, CA 92088. Please designate them for the “2007 Fireworks Fund.” All contributions are appreciated.
