Super Tuscan: a rebellious wine for the daring

TEMECULA — For those wine rebels out there, Ponte Winery would like to introduce you to your partner in crime… the Super Tuscan. What makes this wine fit a more rebellious side? In the 1970s when wine laws were so strict in Italy, there was a winemaking revolution and the traditional Italian Sangiovese grape used for Chianti was blended with French grapes Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot instead of traditional Italian white grapes. This created a rich, bold wine and, as one could imagine, caused quite a stir.
